October 03 – Chicago Tribune: Mike and Kat’s infinite playlist
Unlike their characters in “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” Michael Cera and Kat Dennings say they don’t have bands they’re particularly crazy about — although Dennings admits she was obsessed with Hanson for most of her teenage years.
When it comes to music and TV, the pair is either old-school or out of the mainstream. Dennings‘ favorite TV show: “My So-Called Life.” Cera’s: “Kenny vs. Spenny,” a Canadian show that has aired on Comedy Central about two best friends who face off in various gross- out contests, and “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” a sketch comedy show on Adult Swim.
So what would be on Cera and Dennings‘ infinite playlist? Tackling this question for the umpteenth time in an interview with RedEye, here’s what they said:
Dennings: “Let’s just do crazy ones. ‘I’m an Animal’ by 50 Cent.”
Cera: “TV theme songs.”
Dennings: “Golden Girls.”
Cera: “I like a lot of movie music.”
Dennings: “Just do something crazy! Say something bananas. I’ll say it for you.”
Cera: “Answer for me.”
Dennings: “Michael would put on his playlist …”
Cera: “Cream, a lot of Cream.”
Dennings: “‘White Room.’ No, ‘Butterfly,’ by Crazy Town.”
Cera: “I like Gnarls Barkley (right). They’re good. Um, Doobie Brothers.”
Dennings: “That’s not weird. You know who I do like who I keep forgetting to say: Teddy Pendergrass, who’s a Philadelphia artist.”
Cera: “Buffalo Springfield, truly. Simon and Garfunkel.”
Dennings: “Fleetwood Mac. I used to hate Fleetwood Mac because my mom loves them and now I love them.”
Cera: “Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.” AER
