‘The Sandman’ Audiobook is out now
Posted by Renee on 18 July 2020 with 0 Comments
The audiobook version of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is out now via audible! Kat voices Death – “Death meets with the recently deceased and guides them into their new existence. However, unlike most personifications of death, she also visits people as they are born. … Physically, Death is also opposite to the traditional western culture personification of death. In The Sandman, Death instead appears as an attractive, pale young goth woman dressed in casual clothes — often a black top and jeans. She is pleasant, down-to-earth, perky, and has been a nurturing figure for both incarnations of Dream. ” [source]

Paste Magazine Interview

And as a character, Dallas is somewhat uncharted territory for any actress. She nominally does for, say, Han Solo what Rick Sanchez does for Doc Brown—honing in on that character’s distinguishing element and underlining the shit out of it. The difference is that female characters in these kinds of shows a) aren’t normally the lead character (Robo and Dallas argue over who is whose sidekick, but Robo is definitely the Watson here), and b) they don’t normally get to be so roguish. “It wasn’t like when I signed up they were like ‘oh, we should give her a bigger role,’” says Dennings. “This was the show… That’s what attracted me so much—that she’s playing the role that, typically, a dude would play.” For her, the atypical character has paid off, creatively. “She is my favorite character I’ve ever played,” she adds. “Ever. In my entire career. I get so much joy from saying the things that she says.”

The story follows Molly (Malin Akerman), a glamorous, newly divorced actor, and Abby (Dennings), her recently-dumped lesbian best friend, with Seymour as Helen, Molly’s gorgeous Swedish mother. Together, along with their motley crew of close friends and strange acquaintances, they host a dysfunctional, comical and chaotic Thanksgiving dinner.
The pic also co-stars Aisha Tyler as Lauren, Deon Cole as her husband Dan, Ryan Hansen as Molly’s ex-boyfriend Gunnar, Chelsea Peretti as the new-age shaman Claire, Christine Taylor as Brianne and Wanda Sykes and Margaret Cho as Abby’s Fairy Gaymothers.
